Planning Leads to Success

To be successful means to achieve a desired aim or result. It means to be victorious. Today we would use Kolawole Emmanuel as a case study, a  graduate of Caleb University using focus, determination and religion to head to his Visioned path.

Purple Effects: What is your full name?

Emmanuel : Kolawole Emmanuel

Purple Effects : Emmanuel, can you tell us your age please?

Emmanuel : I would be 25 this year.

Purple Effects: At 25 do you feel you have accomplished enough to know what you are capable of?

Emmanuel : Well, I have realised that I can do all things through Christ and if I put my  all in something. I can do it.

Purple Effects: You are a graduate of Caleb University am I correct?

Emmanuel : Yes, I studied computer science.

Purple Effects : How did you get into Caleb University?

Emmanuel: Well, I got in to Caleb University by God's grace through scholarship sponsored by Lagos State in conjunction with the school.

Purple Effects : How did you gain the scholarship,  if you don’t mind sharing.

Emmanuel: Well, after years of not been able to secure admission into University, 2013 october, a very good friend of mine, Eruegbu Micheal, saw the advert on punch newspaper and made me got the form. I got it, sat for the Exam and attending about two interviews.  December 2nd that same year, my dad was called to come and pick up my scholarship letter and that I was the only one given full scholarship out of almost 25 people that sat for the examination. All I could say is it was truly God that helped me get in.

Purple Effects : The scholarship covered your whole Academic Years?

Emmanuel : Yes ma. But the agreement was my cgpa must not be less than 4.0

Purple Effects: You tutored students in Mathematics and Other figures relative courses. When did you start with the tutorials? How were you able to draw people to attend? Was it ever a challenge for you?

Emmanuel : In Caleb or started tutoring generally?

Purple Effects : Generally

Emmanuel: Started tutoring 2007. When I was still in secondary. Then I moved to having a small tutorial centre in secondary school in conjunction with my very good friend, Michael Eruegbu and I tot mathematics every week in mathematics club where I had more than 100 students. Then after secondary I went full time into tutoring. I tutored in some tutorial centres too like barachel and MindMark (my tutorial centre in conjunction with Mr Akan Imoh) before I gained admission into Caleb University. I started tutoring in Caleb university the week I resumed school because we were having mat 101 test the next week.

Purple Effects : Wow! This is amazing! You were able to gain an audience real quick with the students?

Emmanuel : Getting people to attend was never a challenge to me. I became popular in school before I could even say Jack  because of the excellent spirit God deposited in me. When you have stuff people need, they would come running after you. That was exactly what happened. People including lecturers saw I was made of gold. Yes, I started that same week I resumed. Taught my first class in school 7th of December while preparing for Wednesday, 11th of December 2013, mat 101 test.

Purple Effects: What did you graduate with?

Emmanuel : Big question. Came out with an Upper. My goal had always been to help people academically and to make them better than myself academically so when dey want to write their story, they would remember my impact.

Purple Effects: How is life as a graduate going for you? Any big plans?

Emmanuel: Hmmmm, God has been faithful as usual. Well, I am serving my fatherland now in Sokoto for now. Big plans? Yeah I have got a lot of big plans. My IT firm is there that I am working on. My Agricultural firm is there too. I am a farmer. I want to feed the nation. I have got great plans. Lecturing is also there. Wanna go for my masters but God first in all.

Purple Effects: Can you tell us more about your Agricultural firm?

Emmanuel: Its a processing company, sell of cash crop and animals. We deal with processing garri, fufu flour and cassava  chips from cassava and sales of maize, groundnut and other farm produce. We also have a brand we would be pushing soon that would deal with sales of animals like cow, ram, goat and the likes.

Purple Effects: This is good. This Agricultural firm, is it already in motion?

Emmanuel: Yeah. We are launching soon and its gonna be big by God's grace. You know money is really needed.

Purple Effects: Don’t you have sponsors? People that share this dream?

Emmanuel: Working on sponsors already. You know its not easy to get all this in Nigeria.

Purple Effects: It really is not easy to get sponsors in Nigeria. Any words for people out there trying to achieve something and make something great of themselves.

Emmanuel: Love God, seek His face always and be diligent in whatever you do n wherever you find yourself. Proverb 22:29

It doesn’t matter how much money or property you have, what matters is the zeal and the passion. They speak for you, and help lift you along with hard work, determination, God and supporting loved ones.
When you have a vision in your head, have the right mind that you can put it to work and you would excel, I believe that this young man can excel because he has put all his efforts in, he exhibits all the right characters.
