Mini Series: What is mine, is mine.

So I walked behind the elderly man, leading me. Fear engulfed my heart but I could not fidget. Inside me somehow I knew he meant no harm and I was meant to go with him.

We combed through the forest for a while, I felt energy all around me. I knew the forest was alive.

We came to a stop in front of a very tall iroko tree, thick as an oak tree.

Finally, he spoke to me. Prophesies and prayers, warnings and appraisals.

He recited a couple of incantations and knocked on the tree. My eyes zeroed in in disbelief as the tree split open for him. He stuck his hand in and retrieved a big red kola, the sun peaked in through the leaves and shone in the kola. The effect of that act of nature was quite striking as the kola lit up and shone gold.

The old man sternly said to me, to eat it.

I didn’t want to take it from him, after all we don’t eat in dreams.

I felt a sense of warmth wash over me and my fear subsided. I took the kola and felt its power. My power, I consumed it and the man walked away from me and vanished behind the iroko tree.

I too left.
